Subject: Request for Meeting – U.S. Action on Sudan: Stopping RSF and UAE Military Support
Dear [Representative/Senator Last Name],
My name is [Your Full Name], a resident of [City, State, ZIP] and one of your constituents. I respectfully request a short meeting with you or a member of your staff to discuss urgent steps the United States should take in response to the war crimes and atrocities being committed in Sudan — particularly by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and its backers.
The RSF has been credibly accused of systematic ethnic cleansing in Darfur, mass killings in Khartoum, and horrific acts of sexual violence. These crimes have been recognized by Secretary of State Blinken as crimes against humanity, and the U.S. government has reportedly been considering formally designating the RSF as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO).
Equally disturbing is growing evidence that the United Arab Emirates has armed and financed the RSF, in direct violation of the UN arms embargo. Several investigations — including by CNN, The New York Times, and human rights groups — have revealed that U.S.-made weapons exported to the UAE were likely transferred to the RSF and used to massacre civilians. This makes the U.S. potentially complicit through unmonitored arms transfers.
As your constituent, I would like to meet to urge you to:
• Support the official designation of RSF as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, or at least push for its immediate classification under targeted sanctions frameworks.
• Call for a public investigation into how U.S. weapons sold to the UAE may have reached RSF hands — and halt all arms transfers to the UAE until full accountability is ensured.
• Introduce or support legislation that prohibits military aid or security cooperation with regimes that enable war crimes, including the UAE in the context of Sudan.
• Ensure U.S. diplomatic leadership in pushing for a ceasefire, humanitarian access, and justice for Sudanese civilians.
This war has already displaced over 7 million people and risks becoming another genocide on the world’s watch. I believe the U.S. has a moral and legal obligation to act swiftly and decisively.
I would be grateful for a 15–20 minute meeting (in-person or virtual) at your earliest convenience to explain this further and offer supporting documentation.
Thank you for your attention and service.
Sincerely,
[Your Full Name]
